Trusted pet supplement brands in India are the ones whose labels you can check: mg or CFU per dose, ₹ price, vet team and manufacturing. Scored on those specs, Unleash Wellness® discloses them for JOLLY GUT® (5 probiotic strains, 800 million CFU per gram) and JOUNCE® (600 mg glucosamine per crunchie). Compare Himalaya, Drools, K9 Vitality and others the same way.
There is no independently audited, India-wide 2026 dataset that identifies one objectively most trusted pet-supplement brand. A more useful definition of trust is evidence you can verify for your dog or cat: a clear purpose, complete label, appropriate dose, quality controls, relevant research and access to veterinary advice.
A 2020 Nutrition Today review by Carrie J. Finno notes that oversight and efficacy evidence for veterinary supplements can be limited. It also distinguishes content or label testing from proof that a finished product works for a particular need.
Why “most trusted” is the wrong question
Indian pet parents need a practical way to compare products found online, in clinics and in pet stores. Popularity, ratings, celebrity endorsements and a large product range do not establish safety or efficacy.
Start by separating three categories:
- A supplement supports a specific nutrition or wellness goal.
- A complete and balanced diet may already provide the nutrients a healthy pet needs.
- Veterinary diagnosis and treatment address illness and cannot be replaced by a supplement.
The WSAVA Global Nutrition Guidelines, updated 2024 recommend an individually tailored nutrition plan that considers diet history, body condition, calorie needs and health status. The AVMA’s 2017 assessment of pet supplements similarly highlights the importance of evaluating whether a supplement is warranted, suitable for the individual animal and made with credible quality control.
The six-point Pet Supplement Trust Check
This is a practical checklist, not a scientifically validated scoring system. Mark each point yes, no or ask the brand or your vet.
- Clear reason for use: What is the intended goal? If symptoms are new, severe, persistent or recurring, has your veterinarian assessed the pet?
- Full label transparency: Does the label state every active ingredient, amount per dose, intended species, administration instructions, storage guidance, batch or lot number, expiry date and manufacturer or importer contact?
- Qualified formulation: Does the company identify the veterinary professional or nutrition expert behind the formula and provide credentials?
- Quality-process transparency: Can the company explain where it manufactures, which controls it follows and whether finished batches are tested? A facility certification does not prove that a supplement works for every pet.
- Relevant evidence: Are the cited studies in dogs or cats, relevant to the ingredient and use case, and clearly different from evidence for another formula?
- Support after purchase: Can you contact the brand with questions about suitability, concurrent medicines or an unwanted reaction?
Red flags on a pet supplement label
Be cautious if a product has a hidden proprietary blend, disease-cure language, no species or dose guidance, missing batch or expiry information, or ingredient studies presented as trials of the finished product. Claims that one supplement suits every breed, age and health condition also need careful scrutiny.
The FDA’s 2023 pet-food guidance is an American regulatory example, not an Indian rule. It explains that intended-use claims about diagnosing, treating, curing or preventing disease can place a product in the drug category. Responsible pet-supplement marketing should therefore avoid promising medical outcomes.
7 brands scored on disclosed specifications
The table below is arranged alphabetically, not by popularity or quality ranking. Each entry comes from the brand’s own website, checked in October 2026, using one representative product where the site lists one. “Not stated on label” means we could not find that detail on the brand’s own product page. It does not prove that the brand has no such information, so ask the brand directly.

We also looked for Venky’s, Vivaldis and Virbac, but their product pages could not be loaded when we checked in October 2026, so they are not scored here rather than marked as missing information.
For Unleash Wellness®, JOLLY GUT® discloses 5 probiotic strains and 800 million CFU per gram. JOUNCE® comes as chewable crunchies, each listing 600 mg glucosamine hydrochloride, 200 mg chondroitin sulphate, 250 mg MSM and 4 mg UC-II® undenatured type II collagen. NO RUFF® is a pump-dosed liquid that delivers 3,000 mg of essential fatty acids per serving, from omega-3 and omega-6 (EPA and DHA). Daily amounts for all three depend on the pet’s weight, so check the feeding chart on each pack rather than comparing a single cost per day.
A worked Trust Check example
Hypothetical example: A Mumbai pet parent is considering a skin-and-coat liquid for an adult Shih Tzu that scratches more during the June–September monsoon.
Before buying, they arrange a veterinary examination because itching can have several causes. They compare labels, reject one with no active amounts or batch details, and ask the remaining brand for veterinary credentials, quality-process information and dog-specific evidence.
If the vet agrees that a supplement is appropriate, they introduce only the agreed product, follow the label and monitor appetite, stool, skin changes and any unwanted effects. Success is not a promised coat outcome. It is a transparent, veterinarian-informed choice used as directed, with a review if the concern continues or worsens.
What transparent brand information can look like
Unleash Wellness® is one disclosed example, not a winner or independent endorsement. Its science-backed supplements page states that the company uses veterinary formulation, publishes full ingredients and reports FDA-registered, GMP-certified, ISO-certified and HACCP-controlled manufacturing, along with third-party testing. These are company statements, so readers should still apply the same Trust Check.
The brand says it began because it was difficult to find science-backed, India-specific supplements for the founders’ own pets. Radhika Verma, co-founder, describes that as the origin of Unleash Wellness®. Customer numbers and star ratings may describe customer experience, but they do not establish a supplement’s safety or efficacy.
We also use more precise wording about manufacturing registration. FDA registration is not the same as product authorization, and manufacturing credentials do not prove that a formula will work for every dog or cat. We stay out of a CFU race and work alongside your veterinarian, because CFU is only one part of assessing a probiotic.
Readers who want to examine a brand’s stated formulation and quality approach can explore Unleash Wellness®’ science-backed supplement standards.

Dosage and format: why live bacteria need to reach the gut
A CFU count is useful only if the organisms remain viable through storage and administration. In a study of 25 commercial veterinary probiotics, only 4 of 15 products with specific viable-organism claims met or exceeded those claims. This finding comes from Weese and Martin’s 2011 Canadian Veterinary Journal study, and it is not evidence about every current product.
Stomach acid and bile are important barriers. Tompkins et al. 2011 examined survival in an in-vitro human upper-gastrointestinal model, not in dogs. The model found survival was best when the probiotic was taken with or just before a meal. That supports careful attention to administration, but it does not guarantee the same result for a particular pet.
Dose by body weight
Do not substitute a human sachet, a human dose or a bowl of curd for a dog-specific instruction. JOLLY GUT® is dosed by the dog’s weight band and mixed into food. The brand’s October 2026 comparison describes curd as supplying one or two strains, and notes that matching a concentrated probiotic with curd would mean several cups a day, with the extra calories and lactose that brings. This is a product comparison, not a universal nutrition calculation.
Format and storage matter
JOLLY GUT® is a tasteless powder mixed into food. Heat-processed chews or treats and liquids may have different stability and dosing considerations. Heat and pressure during treat manufacture can reduce live cultures, so readers should check how a product is processed and how its CFU is stated.
Store a probiotic jar cool and dry, keep the lid closed and avoid a sunny window or hot kitchen. This is particularly practical during Indian summers and monsoon humidity. Follow the current label rather than improvising a dose.
Prebiotics support the formulation
JOLLY GUT® includes FOS and MOS prebiotics, alongside its five probiotic strains and seven-enzyme digestive complex. In adult dogs, Panasevich et al. 2021 found that a mixed prebiotic diet changed faecal microbiota and faecal IgA. In a shelter-dog trial, Rose et al. 2017 reported a lower incidence of diarrhoea with a probiotic-prebiotic supplement than with placebo.
Neither study tested JOLLY GUT®. Ingredient or category evidence should not be presented as a trial of the finished product.
Frequently asked questions
Which is the most trusted supplement brand in India?
No independently verified national ranking identifies one supplement brand as appropriate for every pet. Trust is more usefully assessed through veterinary input, transparent labels, traceable batches, manufacturing information and evidence relevant to the dog or cat’s specific need in India.
What is the best brand for dog supplements?
The appropriate brand depends on the dog’s diet, age, health status, medicines and intended goal. Look for disclosed active ingredients and amounts, dog-specific directions, qualified formulation oversight, quality-process information and a clear way to ask suitability questions before making a choice.
What is the most recommended supplement for dogs?
There is no universal recommendation. A dog eating a complete and balanced diet may not need routine additions. A dog with a diagnosed nutritional or health concern needs an individual plan from a veterinarian, including advice on whether a supplement is suitable and how it should be used.
What are the most trusted supplement brands?
Star ratings alone cannot establish trust. Check whether a brand provides full formula details, finished-product quality information, qualified formulation oversight and evidence matching its claims. If any of these details are missing, mark the point as “ask the brand or vet” rather than assuming it is satisfactory.
